YOUR HEALTH MATTERS
We believe that consumers and communities can take back agency over their health through the food that they choose to eat. We are commited to crafting natural, fresh products that intentionally boost health rather than do less harm. Beyond our product range, we offer nutritional education and accessible low-tech skills training.
Digestability
We make our products digestable
Our alternative bakery products are made easily digestible and wholesome through ancient techniques like sprouting, soaking and puffing grains, stone-grinding and blending flours, incorporating heirloom beans and fermenting. This means you get even more of the nutritional benefits without any compromise on flavour or texture. You might think this is a lot of effort but we believe it is simply how good food should be made...food that heals rather than harms, makes sense doesn't it!?
Why do our foods have a botanical diveristy index?
We make dietary diversity easy
A balanced and nutritious diet can be an effective preventive measure for maintaining good health and well-being. By consuming a variety of nutrient-rich foods including whole grains, plant proteins and omega-rich oils and fats, individuals can support their immune system, reduce the risk of chronic diseases or support recovery and improve energy levels.
Our innnovative Botanical Diversity Index (BDI) is designed to help you make better food choices; you'll notice that each of our products are intentionally crafted to have long ingredients list meaning we are making dietary diversity convenient for you!
Gut Biome
We support a healthy gut biome
Our guts are our second brains meaning a healthy gut contributes to positive mental health. Healthy gut linings are needed for nutrient absorption and a healthy microbiome is needed for proper hormone functioning and avoiding inflammation. We support healthy guts by packing natural prebiotic and probiotic goodness into our products as well as ensuring dietary diversity through a wide array of ingredients that comprise each product!
QUALITY INGREDIENTS
We use high quality ingredients
The quality of oils and grains matter really matter for our health. Cold-pressed oils provide healthy omega-3 fats which help maintain cell health and actually prevent inflammation which in turn helps reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases. Bad oils are don't get enough press - they do the complete reverse of good oils by actually causing swelling and cell damage which can lead to all sorts of dis-eases.
We love ancient super grains because they have higher micronutrient profiles than modern varieties and are much higher in protein. This is vital for maintaining energy levels, proper hormone functioning and the building and repairing of muscles, bones and tissues!
MICRONUTRIENTS
We understand the importance of micronutrients
You can still feel hungry after a huge plate of porridge. It is food quality that matters; we need food with VITALITY! Micronutrients are essential for our immunity, energy, nerve health, blood pressure, vision, bone health and almost every bodily function. Our body cannot produce these vitamins and minerals which is why we must get them from our foods. Each and every food has a unique micronutrient profile, if we aren't eating a variety of high quality foods, and enough of them, then we won't get the full range that is necessary for our holistic health. We've done some interesting studies on our range and the levels of trace minerals and other micronutrients are incredible!
SEED CYCLING
why do we use seeds in combination in our foods?
Seed cycling is a dietary practice that involves consuming specific types of seeds during different phases of the menstrual cycle in an attempt to support hormone balance. The idea behind seed cycling is to provide the body with certain nutrients that may help regulate estrogen and progesterone levels.
Typically, seed cycling involves consuming two different types of seeds over a set 2 week time period:
-
During the first half of the menstrual cycle (follicular phase), i.e. from the start of menstruation to ovulation, consume 1 tbsp flaxseeds (ground) and 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
-
During the second half of the menstrual cycle (luteal phase) i.e. is from ovulation to the start of the next period, consumer 1 tbsp sesame (ground) and 1 tbsp sunflower seeds
If you do not get a regular bleed the recommendation is to start the cycling in sync with the moon cycle (i.e. the follicular phase to align the the transisition from new moon to full moon and the luteal phase to align with the transition from full moon to new moon).
The specific nutrients found in these seeds - such as lignans, omega-3 fatty acids, and zinc - are believed to support hormone metabolism and balance. This typically takes a minimum of 3 months, without missing a day. It is important to grind the smaller seeds so that they can be properly absorbed; soaking in a little coconut oil, flax oil or avocado oil can also help this.
There is currently limited scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of seed cycling for hormone balance and you will need to pay attention to see whether it has significant effects for you personally.
As with any dietary change, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional before starting seed cycling, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or concerns. Additionally, seed cycling should be seen as part of an overall healthy diet and lifestyle, rather than a standalone solution for hormonal imbalances.
